New fave for northern Chinese food! Legit hand-pulled noodles, pretty good dumplings, and excellent prices.
Went here 5 weeks in a row. Best place to go if you're looking for hand pulled noodle soup, despite their store name. The price is low, and their quality is high. Service is fast, but their restaurant is fairly small so be prepared to wait for a bit during the weekends. I highly recommend the lamb skewers, lamb noodle soup, and the potstickers / dumplings.
Amazing little place. Quality and quantity are excellent for the Price. Will definitely be a regular. Food smelled too good to take pics. Bring a friend and join online wait-list!
Food was ok, Not sure what the hype is about. Maybe I got the wrong dish?? I ordered skewered chicken, chicken pancake and fried rice. Skewered chicken was flavorful and spicy. The pancake us meh. Only ate half. Rice was ok, not too flavorful or unique about it. They only take cash and the wait is long, so be prepared to wait (outside as there are NO waiting area inside)
I went here a while back because a friend of mine recommended it die to her experience. What I can say is that if you really like pancakes, go here but for anything else, let's just say there's a reason why it's called "house of pancakes". Food was good so what's not to like.
One of my friends recommended coming here for some amazing food at a cheap price, and he was right to recommend House of Pancakes! We were lucky to get seated right away and have our food our very quickly. We were starving, but we couldn't finish the 3 dishes we ordered, and each one was about $7! The pancakes were a clear winner but everything else was also very delicious!
Awesome food with super nice employees (shout out to the woman who took my order last Saturday). Had the pancake, soy paste noodles, and eggplant with tofu and would likely order it all again. Prices were very fair, but note that they are cash only.
Very good food. Dumplings with variety of choices.hand pull noodles is very tasty. Reasonable prices. Cash only. Good service ,but small plaves. Recommend for dumplings.
Heads up, this place is cash only! It’s super cheap, and it’s really good. Honestly, I’d stay way away from any of the meat here, but you can’t screw up vegetables.Do go for the pancakes, the dumplings, and any of the veggie dishes. They’re all great, and the portions are incredible for the price. We fed 3 for $40 and we were stuffed afterwards.Don’t go for the noodles or the meat options. The pork noodle dish we had was bland and tasteless, and the noodles were mushy and overcooked. My biggest issue is that they are cash only, and they didn’t include any utensils. The latter really isn’t an issue normally, but on this rare occasion it was.
Super super solid place just make sure you come earlier for dinner and also use less force when you open the door since I almost slammed it open. We got here on a Tuesday night with 6 and were seated immediately but so many people filed in after us! Food: We got 9 dishes for 6 people and the favorites were the beef roll pancake, the hand pulled beef noodles, and the chive and pork dumplings! I loved the solid portions of food and the crispy flavor of the pancakes. The noodles were a little bland but still good! Service: The waiters here are so nice! One guy who we assume was the manager stuck up conversation with us easily. Ambiance: It’s definitely more casual but a small cramped space.Overall, loved the food and experience and would come again! Cheap too.
House of Pancakes - where do you start? Great food, expect a line which means you know it's good! It is cash only so make sure you have some cash with you! Overall the flavors are great, we had a hand pulled noodle and a beef pancake roll, in addition to the pork pancake. There are 2 types of pancakes! The roll as well as the large one that is cut into quarters, so make sure you order the right one for those of us who can't read the Chinese. :) The hand pulled noodles have a great texture, soup was not too salty!
Really good price for descent food! Expect to wait outside a bit. We come again!
Yummy comfort food with good size portions!
small place so there will be a wait for prime dinner time. no frills, good food and i couldn't believe everything was under $10. that's so rare these days in sf. service was also great.
This place is a-legit. We got lamb skewers, zhajiangmian, pork and chive dumplings and beef pancake. I recommend this much for two people, you'll have a bit too much food and it'll be 40$ total (tax+tip). But this is the right amount of diversity and flavors. Just want to go back now!
We arrived just after opening, so plenty of tables to choose. The service was fast, the waitress very kind. I didn’t have cash and she trusted me letting me go to the nearest bank to withdraw cash. Something to improve on is cleaning more carefully the glass container of sauces. It’s grassy but didn’t really change my whole experience there. I will go back for sure!
Great hole in wall serving up Taiwanese \ northern Chinese dishes. Pancakes and noodles are their specialty. Grilled oysters too. Often a wait but worth the effort. Closed on Wednesday.
No-frills place with excellent food, great prices and friendly service. Definitely worth checking bout if in the area. Highly recommended.
Amongst all the foods we tried the beef rolled pancake and the onion rolled pancake with egg were my favorite. It's a small place but everyone seemed really nice and welcoming. As a plus the food is really cheap compared to other places, most of the stuff we ordered were under $10/item.
Great tasting food for the price. Very busy place....make sure you check in online on Yelp. Service was slightly slow, but food came out promptly.
One of my preferred spots to eat. fantastic location, clean, and fantastic customer service. Highly recommended!
Small & cozy, but authentic tastes
This place is bombdiggity good! We were on the waitlist when we arrived but we were seated right away since the parties before us were not present. We ordered beef noodles and minced pork preserved veg noodles for mains. We also ordered a side of beef pancakes. The noodles were one of the best noodles we've had. Plentiful of vegetables, tender meats, and super Q noodles. Will have to come back to try their other tasty fares.
Came in at the end of the day to grab a bite. Parking can be a little hard to find but it is worth it. Feel free to check in on Yelp first beforehand so you don't have to wait as long. The food is solid and leaves one satisfied. The owner is very nice and friendly and makes sure to attend to all guests.
This is a small restaurant that specializes in handmade Chinese stuffed pancakes and Chinese hand-pulled noodles. They are popular and crowded, but they use Yelp's online waitlist so you can check in and come back when your table is ready. The pancakes are stuffed with meat or vegetables. The noodles are also great and you can get them either stir-fried or in a soup. Portions are large despite the inexpensive prices. Best to bring a few people so you can share.
I recommend their pulled noodles. Two of us shared tender rib hand pulled noodle soup and the lamb pulled noodles stir fry style and also got a beef pancake as an appetizer. It was all delicious. The portions were huge so we ended up saving most of the stir fry for take out. You can watch in the back kitchen area where they hand pull the noodles for prepping and the noodles are very yummy. One thing to mention is this a cash only establishment, but there is a Bank of America one block over if that works for you. Otherwise have cash on hand. Also, the restaurant isn't very big, so expect to wait during peak times. You can check yelp, to place yourself on a waitlist. All in all this is a great restaurant and I highly recommend it.
Surprise...no American pancakes here. This hole in the wall eatery serves some mind-blowing Sichuan food at prices unseen and unthinkable for SF. Their portions are large and everything is priced under 10. Their specialities are several types of savory pancakes and do try their lamb/chicken skewers and the fish in chilli oil.
Consistently good food--hand pulled noodles, dumplings, beef rolls, green beans.
This was my first time trying an authentic Chinese restaurant with such a wide variety of vegetarian options. This place is always busy so make sure to join the wait list on Yelp. We ordered the following vegeterian dishes:1. Vegetable pancakes2. Onion pancake w egg3. Vegeterian hand pulled noodle 4. Eggplant w/ tofu5. Vegeterian dumplings
LOVE this place for some cheap, delicious Chinese food. Beef roll pancake, hand-pulled noodles, and dumplings are all amazing here. Cash only though!
How was my experience at House of Pancakes you ask me Google?Well let me tell you, I wish I'd taken pictures to remember it. The food was sooooo tasty. I was thrown off when a friend told me we are going to eat Chinese pancakes. I thought it was a bay area fusion, but no- I guess it's a Taiwanese dish. Anyways between that and seeing someone making pasta from scratch in the background, I was really impressed.
No frills, well worn restaurant. Food served quickly. Service is standard for this sort of place, ie not overly attentive but efficient. Hand pulled noodles good and fresh with ideal texture. Pancake a bit disappointing actually. Over fried and a little mushy. Dumplings good but a bit thick skinned compared to others. All in all, would return again.
Solid dry beef noodles and amazing egg rolled pancake and dumplings. My coworker recommend this place to me so I knew I had to try it out.She gave me some suggested and the dishes that she recommend were amazing. You definitely get a really good bang for your buck. Not to mention, service was also phenomenal. The staff was by far one of the friendliest people I've encountered.I would definitely come back for the other dishes!
Despite the long wait, if you’re determined to experience some authentic Chinese noodles, dumplings, and pancakes, this place is worth it! This place uses yelp to manage the queue, so when you’re within vicinity, add yourself to the queue and walk around. Check the number of parties ahead of you, and head there when there are a few parties of you. cannot beat this place!!
The good: Their food is all quite good. The hand pulled noodle has a good consistency. Their pancake taste great without being too oily or too salty.Service comes at a good pace, without being too quick or slow. Polite and professional. The bad: Cash only, so prepare beforehand.Parking can be a problem, but that's rather the norm in the city.Seating is quite cosy. Expect quite a wait during lunch hours, given the popularity. All said and done, the wait is worth it.
Good was delicious and super cheap compared to other comes restaurants in the San Francisco area.Honestly would say this is one of the more authentic Chinese restaurants I've found. It's very tiny bit the servers were nice and helpful. More so than other Chinese restaurants when you don't speak Chinese. Usually you just get helped a little less because they don't talk to you as much but I felt like service was good.
beef roll pancake, pork and chive dumplings, lamb skewers
I was surprised to fine a line 30 minutes before closing, but after tasting their chicken pancake and veggie dumplings I understood why. Absolutely worth it - and the prices are unheard of in this city.
Best chinese restaurant in SF and very good serving sizes for the price. Bring cash!!
Worth the wait! Super cheap, big portions, amazing everything. Don’t forget to bring cash
Beef roll pancake is the best. Kids also loved the beef noodle soup
Great food, great service. I will definitely go back again. Prices of food mostly ranged between $4 to $9
Tasty taste, yumso. Edit: not so tasty taste no moh.
Cheap and delicious Chinese food. Everything we ordered was great. Service was fast and friendly. We had to wait a few minutes for a table to open up, but turnover was pretty quick. Cash only!
This place always has a place in my heart when I think of dumplings and beef hand rolls. The staff are always so friendly. We always get the pork & chives dumpling, lamb dumpling, and beef hand roll. Whether we eat in or take to-go, the food always tastes just as good. They always make sure to include tiny containers of sauce for you when you order takeout. They are not the best at answering the phone since it does get busy there I imagine, sometimes I just stop by to order in person, and it is usually a 10-15 minute wait for takeout.
Very affordable and cash only. They have a variety of hand pulled noodle dishes; the noodles themselves were quite good, the soup bases are just fine. The 'jia bing' pancakes and vegetable dishes are also good.
Nice textures, loved the hand pulled noodles. Beef roll pancake was great. Great prices for SF.
Awesome beef pancake and dumplings! They also have the best hand pulled noodles 🍜. Every time I come here the line is soo long! And for good reason. Bring CASH
Wow, given the name I assumed it was another American breakfast place but it’s way different and better!!! I try to come here during more unusual eating hours as it’s popular and can get busy. The hand pulled noodles are really good and I definitely recommend it!
I like this small restaurant. Especially the vegetarian dumplings satisfied my taste buds for dumplings. Hand pulled noodle is so much better than regular machine made noodles
